Holyoke hosts bilingual forum for City Council candidates

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – Holyoke residents gathered at Holyoke Media to hear from city council candidates during a bilingual forum hosted by OneHolyoke CDC, just weeks before the municipal election on November 4th.

Candidates from Wards 1 through 7 participated in the forums, presenting their platforms and discussing how they plan to serve the community.

The event aimed to encourage civic engagement among residents and provide a platform for candidates to communicate their visions.

“We think it’s very important for residents to be able to get to know the candidates that are running for an office seat,” said Nayroby Rosa, Director of Community Engagement and Resident Services at OneHolyoke CDC. “And it’s important for the candidates to tell their constituents what they believe in, who they represent, and what they are looking forward to having present in our city.”

The forum series will continue later this week, offering more opportunities for residents to engage with candidates. On Thursday at 6:30 PM, Holyoke School Committee candidates will participate, followed by City Council at-large candidates on Friday at 5:30 PM.
