Team Woods is battered and bruised. Tiger and Charlie Woods are — literally — putting their best foot forward in an attempt to track down Justin Thomas and his father at the PNC Championship in Orlando, FL.

The Woods’ are just two shots behind the lead entering the final round while experiencing some health limitations. Tiger — who is no stranger to injuries throughout his career — is still recovering from a car crash back in February of 2021 that resulted in serious surgeries to his legs.

His son Charlie has joined him in having difficulties as the pair are visibly limping around the golf course at the scramble-style tournament. Reporters asked Tiger if his son was ok after he was noticeably experiencing discomfort.

“He is,” Tiger said. “His ankle’s not exactly — well, it’s better than mine. We’ll be ready come game time tomorrow.”

Golf analyst Notah Begay revealed the issue was Charlie tweaked his ankle while hitting golf balls at the driving range.

“Yeah, I wouldn’t call it a sprain,” Begay said. “He just kind of rolled it. I asked him, he’s like, ah, it’s just a little bit wobbly at this point.”

On the other hand, there have been some encouraging results from Tiger this weekend. Woods seems to still have the ball speed capable of competing on the PGA Tour. The 46-year-old had to bow out of the tournament he hosts — the Hero World Challenge — in early December due to plantar fasciitis.

His caddy Joe LaCava was pleased with the results.

“It was nice to see him hit it so well,” LaCava told SI.com. “He’s got a lot of speed, hitting it great. You’ve heard him talk. He can hit the shots. He just can’t walk.”

It remains to be seen when or if Woods will return to competitive golf. If the walking aspect doesn’t become easier sooner than later, the prospect of competing in major championships will become an even tougher uphill battle.
