Heat to intensify in coming days—the most intense heat will occur south of Chicago

Excessive heat warning and or heat advisory cover 15 states—including downstate Illinois

July, 2024 has only logged two 90 degree days thus far, a typical FULL July produces 8. 

Tuesday’s predicted highs: we may see the first 90 degree+ day in 15 days, since July 15^th.
