A strong ridge of high pressure will bring widespread 100s to the valley and lower foothills. This will result in major heat risk with peak impacts Friday.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Weather conditions forecast for the Sacramento region Thursday through Saturday are calling for major heat risk and a Weather Impact Alert Day.
A Heat Advisory has been posted from Friday 11 a.m. through Saturday 11 p.m. Temperatures will be well above average from 95-105°. Overnight lows will also provide little relief only cooling into the mid-60s to lower 70s.
Widespread moderate heat risk with some areas of major heat risk will develop through the Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys, as well as the Sierra foothills.
When
Heat will build starting Wednesday, peaking on Friday as the high pressure ridge parks over the four-corners area. This will bring sinking, warming air to the southwest.

Be weather ready. Stay hydrated and take shade breaks often if outdoors. For those with access to air conditioning, make sure to use it during this heat event. Fans can be helpful but not as effective as air conditioning.
Outdoor activities need to planned carefully, keeping in mind the mornings are the coolest time of day. Keep a close eye on others for symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing to minimize heat impacts.
Check on others, especially children and elderly. Also, keep pets in mind.
