I swapped out traditional things, like sour cream for Greek yogurt, which is lower in calories, without sacrificing the taste.

You’ll also save ⅓ of the calories by using light mayo instead of regular. Plus fresh herbs, which add extra vitamins and beneficial nutrients, as well as lots of flavor.

How To Make Healthy Veggie Dip

This healthy vegetable dip recipe is easy to make and comes together in just a few minutes.

All you need to do is prepare your ingredients and stir them together, for a perfect mix that’s better than any store-bought version.

The best part is that you don’t need very many ingredients, and you probably already have most of this on hand.

  • Plain Greek yogurt: This provides the same creamy texture as sour cream, without sacrificing the taste. To save even more calories, use a reduced-fat version.
  • Parmesan cheese: This adds a rich flavor, along with a palate-pleasing texture. Use a low-fat option, or omit it all together if you prefer.
  • Reduced-fat mayonnaise: Lite mayo adds to the fullness and taste, giving it a little extra zing. You could use a full-fat version if you prefer.

  • Lemon juice: The lemon juice gives this healthy veggie dip recipe a delicious tang, while also helping to thin and blend everything together, creating a perfectly creamy texture.
  • Fresh parsley: Freshly chopped parsley adds color, as well as a mildly bitter hint that brightens the overall taste, but you can substitute for ⅓ the amount of dried instead.
  • Fresh dill: This is a visually attractive ingredient that brings a distinct flavor. Fresh is best, but you can use ⅓ the amount of dried instead if you need to. Or if you’re not a fan, you can skip it.
  • Salt: Of course, salt helps to enhance all of the flavors, but you can either reduce the amount or omit it if you prefer.
  • Pepper: Black pepper offers a pungent and earthy touch of spice that we all love.
  • Garlic powder: The garlic powder enriches the flavor and adds to the aroma.

Tips For Making Healthy Vegetable Dip

This recipe is very customizable. If you like to experiment, you can swap in your favorite fresh herbs and seasonings.

While fresh herbs will provide the best flavor, if you’re in a pinch you can always substitute for dried.

Adding fresh minced garlic, or chopped green onions or scallions will add a fun new layer of flavor and texture.

Using & Storing Your Healthy Veggie Dip

Though this is best when served fresh, it will keep for 5-7 days in the fridge in an airtight container. 

Because it is dairy based, do not leave it out for more than 3 hours at a time, and make sure to put it back in the fridge right away when you’re done using it.

You can freeze it safely for a few months. But keep in mind that the texture won’t be quite as good as eating it fresh.

This healthy veggie dip recipe is perfect for a summer tray or holiday gathering. It’s made with fresh herbs and lower fat and calorie ingredients, but still creates that yummy, creamy texture that everyone craves.

Instructions

  1. Combine base ingredients – Add the Greek yogurt, cheese, and mayonnaise into your mixing bowl and stir until they are well blended. 
  2. Chop herbs – Finely chop the dill and parsley. Chopping the fresh herb
  3. Add herbs and spices – Add the herbs, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and lemon juice to the bowl.
  4. Stir well – Stir until all ingredients are combined and your healthy veggie dip is smooth in texture. Mixing all ingredients in a bowl
  5. Store or enjoy – You can eat it right away, or store it in the refrigerator for later use. It will stay good for 5-7 days in the fridge.

Notes

If it’s too thick, add a touch more lemon juice to thin it out. If you feel like it is too thin, add more Greek yogurt until you get the consistency you like.
