Nothing scary about the forecast this year for Halloween. We begin the day with a good deal of sunshine and see clouds gradually gather and increase throughout the afternoon.

No rain is expected through mid-afternoon but a weak disturbance brings a small chance (under 20%) of seeing a brief light shower or a few sprinkles beyond 4 p.m.

Temperatures will be in the upper 30s to near 40-degrees as you head out the door to work or school early Friday morning but warm up to typical Halloween levels during the afternoon in the middle 50s.

Trick or Treat forecast
Expect partly to mostly cloudy skies for those beginning around 3pm. By 6pm onward it will remain mostly cloudy with a low chance of a light shower or a few spotty sprinkles. Temperatures will fall from the lower 50s to the upper 40s by Friday evening.

Chicago Halloween climatology
The warmest Halloween ever took place 75 years ago when the high reached 84-degrees. The coldest on record took place in 1873 when the area shivered in sub-freezing temperatures all day and night. The snowiest Halloween took place only six years ago when 3.4” of snow whitened the ground. The high a year ago was 71-degrees and we had some light rain that totaled 0.03”.
