Gunman storms mall killing one & taking hostages as Xmas market evacuated

A GUNMAN stormed a shopping centre in Germany today and killed a woman in a suspected hostage taking.

Cops have shut the famous Striezelmarkt Christmas market in the eastern city of Dresden and urged people to avoid the area.

According to BILD, an armed man killed a woman, stormed a local radio station and fired several shots before fleeing into a shopping mall where he took several hostages.

“The Dresden Police Department is currently carrying out an operation in downtown Dresden,” police said.

“The background is the suspicion of a hostage situation.”

Radio Dresden earlier reported shots had been fired at a building near the main train station.
