Greater Springfield Crop Hunger Walk raises funds for food-insecure families

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The annual Greater Springfield Crop Hunger Walk took place Sunday afternoon, drawing community members to raise funds for families in need of food and resources.

Participants gathered at Trinity United Methodist Church in Springfield to begin the walk, which aims to support families in western Massachusetts and across the country.

“Every dollar we raise here today will go local and global, what a great mix,” said 22News Storm Team Meteorologist Brian Lapis, who has emceed the event for over 20 years.

The event has made a significant impact on addressing food insecurity in the region and beyond, having raised nearly $800,000 for Open Pantry and Church World Service over the years.

The continued success of the Crop Hunger Walk highlights the community’s commitment to addressing hunger both locally and globally.
