WASHINGTON — Three young girls have been charged with killing a man in Northwest D.C. last year.

According to DC Police, on Oct. 17, 2023 around 1 a.m., officers responded to the 6200 block of Georgia Avenue, Northwest for a report of a man down.

When officers arrived, the found a man who had been assaulted. He died at the scene.

He was identified as 64-year-old Reggie Brown, of Northwest D.C.

An autopsy showed his cause of death to be blunt force trauma and was ruled a homicide.

On Thursday, law enforcement took a 13-year-old Northwest D.C. girl into custody, charging her with second-degree murder.

On Friday, officers arrested two more girls – ages 12 and 13 – who are both from Northwest D.C. They’re also being charged with second-degree murder.

WUSA9 reached out to the Brown family on Friday for comment. His sister told us that “Reggie was kind, quiet, and polite person, didn’t bother anyone, everybody loved him.” She said she was glad police finally caught the suspects but said she and the rest of her family have been plagued with the same question since his murder: Why?

Reggie Brown is described as the type of person who stayed to himself. He grew up in the Brightwood neighborhood for 64 years.
