SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Phoenix Charter Academy hosted its 4th annual “GirlBoss” event in Springfield highlighting local women in business.

The event featured several local, women-run organizations, whose owners led a discussion sharing their experience as female business owners. The event is also meant to encourage students to pursue entrepreneurship.

“The importance is for our students, especially our female students, to see that they can lead their own paths and journeys,” said Larissa Thornton of the Phoenix Charter Academy. “Not necessarily working 9 to 5… and creating their own pathways and becoming their own bosses and their own entrepreneurs.”

The “GirlBoss” event took place at The Venue in Springfield with the theme of “Women’s Wellness.”
