GH Spotlight: Donnell Turner, ‘Curtis’ talks his path to acting and dream of being on General Hospital

DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) — Donnell Turner knew from a young age he wanted to be an actor.

The 53-year-old Chicago native performed in church plays as a child and then played basketball in high school, but after sustaining an injury in his 20’s, decided to take up acting full time.

Turner spoke with ABC11 about growing up watching General Hospital and always dreaming of being part of the cast.

He landed the role of Curtis Ashford in late 2015 and recently celebrated his 10th anniversary with the show last year.

He compared his first day on set to stepping onto the court with your favorite athlete, a dream come true.

Turner considers himself blessed to be where he is today and credits the amazing crop of writers for what viewers get to see Curtis go through on a daily basis.
