CHARLOTTE, N.C. —
Severe Weather Preparedness Week:
Today is the last day of Severe Weather Preparedness Week for both North and South Carolina. If you missed any of the extra coverage from the WCNC Charlotte Weather Team to help you raise your Weather IQ on severe weather, you can access it all on the Weather IQ YouTube Page.
Tonight
The main story overnight remains the wind. The mountains are under a High Wind Warning until noon tomorrow due to the potential for winds 60+ mph. This will result in brutal feels-like temperatures Monday morning with lows in the mid 20s and wind chills in the single digits.
The Charlotte area had wind gusts near 30 mph Sunday but these will lower tonight. If winds die down enough, a light freeze is possible with lows dropping to near 32 degrees. Widespread frost is likely.

Next Week
Monday and Tuesday mornings will both see widespread frost so make sure to cover up tender plants or bring them inside! It’s important to remember that we often see frost and freeze conditions across the Carolinas well into March and April so often the recommendation is to wait until after Tax Day.
Highs will rebound back into the 70s Tuesday through Thursday with the latter in the mid-upper 70s. Dry conditions will break down by Friday and into next weekend.
