Four prisoners at a central Georgia jail busted out Monday morning, fleeing through a broken window and a hole in the fence, police said.

Among the escapees was Joey Fournier, a 52-year-old man charged with killing his ex-girlfriend last year.

Joining Fournier were Marc Kerry Anderson, 24; Johnifer Denard Barnwell, 37, and Chavis Demaryo Stokes, 29, according to the Bibb County sheriff’s office.

The four men made a break for it at 3 a.m. Monday and were scooped up by a blue Dodge Challenger in the jail parking lot, authorities said. Jail guards figured out they were gone about three hours later, and the sheriff alerted the public with an 11 a.m. press release.

“Obviously this is an ‘all hands on deck’ situation. Patrol, investigators, our intel unit is in on this, the FBI,” Sheriff Donald Davis told the Macon Telegraph. “One of these inmates had federal drug charges. Everyone is involved.”

All four men were in the same cell block at Bibb County jail in Macon, Davis told the local paper. Any further connection between them was unclear.

Fournier had been behind bars since February 2022, when he was arrested and charged with killing Cynthia Berry, his former girlfriend. Investigators said Fournier strangled Berry to death, then fled to a favored hunting ground with plans to die by suicide. However, cops tracked him down using his cell phone.

Barnwell is the prisoner facing federal drug charges. He was convicted earlier this month of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, methamphetamine, heroin and cocaine. Barnwell had been arrested in June, according to online records.

Anderson had been detained since January 2021. Police said he was being held for aggravated assault. Stokes had been arrested in May 2022, he was charged with drug trafficking and illegal possession of a gun.
