Forum brings LI tech experts together | Long Island Business News

Long Island tech-sector leaders gathered recently at New York Institute of Technology’s Long Island campus in Old Westbury for the first LITE (Long Island Tech Ecosystem) forum.

“We want to LITE Up LI and to strengthen our Long Island tech ecosystem by working together,” LISTnet President Paul Trapani, said in a statement.

The event was moderated by Babak Beheshti, dean of NYIT’s College of Engineering and Computing Sciences, and emceed by Peter Goldsmith, LISTnet chairman and director of the NYIT Co-Op Program. It featured panelists from a broad spectrum of tech and economic development sectors.

In addition to Trapani, the event featured Barry Greenspan, economic development program administrator at Empire State Development; Rhonda Green, chair of IEEE Long Island; Phil Rugile, executive director of the Institute for Workforce Advancement; Tom Mariner, executive director of LI Bio; Subrina Oliver, founder and CEO of O-High Technology and O-High Foundation; and Theresa Sander, CEO of the Urban League of Long Island.

The event was sponsored by SVAM International and Long Island Business News and drew attendees from various organizations.

Moving forward, the group aims to set reachable goals and make the LITE Forum a yearly event.
