Bridget Fleming, a former Suffolk County legislator, has joined McBride Consulting and Business Development Group.

Fleming, who is also a former member of the Southampton Town Board, is now the Melville-based consulting firm’s vice president of its economic development and land-use practice.

Fleming served four terms as a Suffolk legislator, representing the Second Legislative District, which included the towns of East Hampton, Southampton, Shelter Island, and parts of Brookhaven. At both county and town posts, she worked on issues of environmental sustainability, clean energy, public infrastructure and transportation, as well as Long Island’s housing crisis, according to a company statement.

“Having been elected to county and town positions, Ms. Fleming has more than 20 years of government experience,” Robert McBride, president and CEO of McBride Consulting, said in the statement. “Respected on both sides of the political aisle, Bridget Fleming has a reputation for being able to meet complex challenges by focusing on practical outcomes that bring benefits to all parties. With her arrival at McBride Consulting, she will be able to apply this well-honed skill, along with her extensive understanding of local government, to help our clients meet their goals.”

Besides her work as an elected official, Fleming, who resides in Sag Harbor, also served as a criminal prosecutor in the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office. She is a graduate of Hunter College and a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law.

“I am excited to join the McBride team, especially knowing that the firm embodies a unique level of integrity, strategic vision, and commitment to results,” Fleming said in the statement. “I look forward to working with my McBride colleagues to tackle the many public policy challenges clients in the private sector face.”

In business for 36 years. McBride Consulting offers various services, including political lobbying, business strategy, contract procurement guidance, public relations and legal advice. The company’s professional roster includes several former elected officials and many former staff members of national, state and local office holders.
