The first organized weather system of the fall season set to impact Northern California next week.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Weather conditions forecast for the Sacramento region are calling the first widespread fall rain early next week after more than 180 days in Sacramento without rainfall totaling more than 0.10 inches.
The low pressure system associated with the line of showers will bring rainfall to Northern California beginning early Monday. Showers continue in the forecast through Tuesday and possibly early Wednesday.
The first line of rain also shows the potential of having some instability and thus a chance of thunderstorms.
When
Weather begins to change late Sunday with increasing clouds. The first bands of rain will begin to impact the Northwest Coast by early Monday. The rain spreads south to the Central Valley during the day. Early showers are also possible in the Sierra and upper foothills.
There’s also a chance of thunderstorms with this first line moving into the state.
Shower chances linger into Tuesday with accumulating rain. Snow levels will remain high but there’s a slight chance of a light dusting early Tuesday with lows in the 30s at lake level.
Showers will begin to end Wednesday.

Impact
The first wetting rain of the season can mean messy roads. Oil and residue buildup from the summer tends to rise to the surface making the roads extra slick.
Rain could impact the commutes on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
