CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Emergency crews are on the scene of a commercial fire in southwest Charlotte.

The fire started around 5:30 a.m. near the intersection of Olympic Street and Nations Ford Road, just east of Interstate 77. Multiple Charlotte Fire units responded to the fire. The Charlotte Fire Department posted on X that it was a three-alarm fire with flames and smoke showing through the roof of the building.

Officials later clarified that the fire was at a business on Carpet Street. There are multiple businesses in the area, including Cregger Company and Repsouth Inc.

It’s unclear what may have started the fire or if anyone was inside the building.

WCNC Charlotte has a crew at the scene and will provide updates in this story as more information is available.
