(FOX40.com) – Starting Friday, road work along several portions of Highway 50 and ramps will impact traffic.
The 56-hour closure will primarily affect eastbound Highway 50 to Business 80/Capital City Freeway and southbound State Route 99 connectors. Caltrans said pavement removal and replacement work will take place over the weekend. Closures start at 9 p.m. on Friday and end at 5 a.m. on Monday.
Caltrans said connector closures this weekend include:
- Eastbound US 50 connector ramp to eastbound Business 80/Capital City Freeway
- Eastbound US 50 connector ramp to southbound SR 99
Ramp closures include:
- 16th Street on-ramp to eastbound US 50
- Eastbound US 50 to 59th Street off-ramp
Several detours are in place because of the closures. According to Caltrans, eastbound Highway 50 traffic should:
- Continue eastbound on Highway 50 and exit at the 65th Street off-ramp.
- Turn left onto 65th Street and take the 65th Street loop on-ramp to westbound Highway 50.
- From westbound Highway 50, the off-ramp to connect with southbound SR 99 is Exit 6B.
- From westbound Highway 50, the off-ramp to connect with northbound Business80/Capital City Freeway is Exit 6C.
Caltrans said the work is part of a project to rehabilitate pavement and add 14 lane miles of high-occupancy lanes from the Highway 50 and Interstate-5 interchange to the Highway 50 and Watt Avenue interchange.
According to Caltrans, other detours for local traffic this weekend include:
- Traffic heading southbound on I-5 from north of US 50 is advised to continue southbound on I-5.
- Traffic heading from Yolo 50 to the eastbound US 50 is advised to use I-5.
- Traffic heading northbound on I-5 to eastbound US 50 is advised to continue northbound on I-5.
