Former Adelanto mayor Richard Allen Kerr is due in federal court February 17th to plead guilty to accepting more than $57,000 in bribes and kickbacks.

Under a plea agreement, Kerr, accepted the money in exchange for approving ordinances authorizing commercial marijuana activity within the High Desert city. His accomplices obtained city licenses or permits for their commercial marijuana activities, the Justice Department said.

Kerr also served on the city’s Cannabis Dispensary Permit Committee, which determined the number of dispensary permits.

Kerr was Adelanto mayor from 2015 to 2018.
