Elon Musk says he’s hired replacement Twitter CEO

Elon Musk has hired someone to replace him as Twitter CEO — but he won’t say who.

“Excited to announce that I’ve hired a new CEO for X/Twitter. She will be starting in ~6 weeks!” Musk tweeted Thursday afternoon. “My role will transition to being exec chair & CTO, overseeing product, software & sysops.”

Musk, 51, took over daily operations at Twitter in October 2022 after buying the company for $44 billion. During his time in charge, the eccentric multibillionaire instituted a series of controversial changes.

Early in his tenure, Musk used a series of polls on the site to make decisions, arguing that “the voice of the people is the voice of God.” In one of those polls, users voted to allow Donald Trump back on the platform.

In another poll, Twitter voters said Musk should step down as CEO. That poll closed in December, and Musk announced the change five months later.
