Dyer police investigating deadly domestic disturbance

DYER, Ind. (WGN) — A 35-year-old man was shot and killed during a domestic disturbance in Dyer on Sunday evening, according to authorities.

The incident occurred outside a residence in the 8600 block of Beall Street sometime after 5 p.m.

A preliminary information shows the 35-year-old man had gone to the home to visit his child and the child’s mother.

During the visit, a dispute broke out, and threats were allegedly made against the woman’s mother.

Investigators believe the 35-year-old man and a 52-year-old homeowner began arguing in the street. During that confrontation, the 35-year-old was shot.

He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The 52-year-old man is being held for questioning, and a firearm was recovered at the scene.

Authorities say the shooting appears to be an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public. No further information has been released.
