Durham City Council set to vote on more affordable housing

DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) — Durham City Council is voting on a $90 million plan to redevelop 20 abandoned acres of land in the historic Hayti District.

During the meeting today, city council leaders are set to vote on the approval of $44 million in phase 1 of the development of the multifamily housing project to be known as Fayette Place.

This area sits in a 20-acre abandoned lot.

Some of the units will go to low-income people with construction expected to be done by 2027.

This will be discussed during their meeting tonight at 7.
