VAN BUREN COUNTY, MI — A car was stopped in the middle of the road when officers conducted a traffic stop and discovered drugs inside, the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office reports.
At 12:15 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, narcotics detectives executed a traffic stop on the stopped vehicle on County Road 669, near Lawton.
The 32-year-old Cassopolis driver asked police why he was being pulled over, the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
Detectives told him he was not allowed to park in the middle of a county road. The driver told police he was smoking marijuana and thought he was being followed, the news release says.
The driver told detectives he had meth in the car. Detectives located over 35 grams of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, the sheriff’s office said.
Detectives interviewed the man and told him they would seek a warrant for his arrest for possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine.
