A 5-year-old child with autism was found safe by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office on Monday after wandering away from Tampa home into wooded area.At around 5:10 p.m., the HCSO’s aviation unit was called to assist deputies after the child was reported missing. According to deputies, aviation was able to locate the missing child using a thermal imaging camera which showed the girl walking through a wooded area. The child was located in under an hour with no injuries and was reunited with her family. “Their quick action saved the day, turning potential tragedy into a hopeful reunion,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “Their dedication shows what service and protection are all about here at the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.”
