[DISCONTINUED] RBC Cathay Pacific Visa Platinum – Pointshogger

Back on Canada Day (July 1, 2023), I provided an update on my 2023 wish list. One of the items was hoping to see the introduction of either a new co-branded airline or hotel loyalty credit card. Instead, today, we talking about an existing card about to be discontinued instead.

RBC has discontinued one of its co-branded airline credit cards, the RBC Cathay Pacific Visa Platinum. Part of it might have to do with its merged with HSBC Canada.

Highlights

Below were the highlights of the RBC Cathay Pacific Visa Platinum card.

• $120 annual fee
• $50 annual fee for a supplementary cardholder
• Earn 15,000 sign up bonus miles upon approval
• Earn 2 miles for every $1 CAD spent on Cathay Pacific purchases online
• Earn 1.25 mile for every $1 CAD spent on all foreign currency purchases
• Earn 1 mile for every $1 CAD spent on all other purchases
• Receive complimentary Green Tier membership in the Marco Polo Club

All is not lost

That being said, Cathay Pacific still has a conversion relationship with RBC Avion and HSBC Rewards. Both transferable points programs still allow its members to transfer points to Cathay Pacific.
