Did anyone win the $700M Powerball jackpot? Here are Saturday’s winning numbers

The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are one in 292.2 million.

WASHINGTON — The Powerball jackpot inched closer to $1 billion after no one won the grand prize on Saturday.

While Saturday’s drawing had no jackpot winner, three people became millionaires after having guessed all five white ball numbers correctly.

Two players, in Maine and New York, have tickets worth $1 million for guessing the five numbers. One South Dakota ticket is worth $2 million because the player bought the optional Power Play multiplier, doubling their earnings.

For Saturday’s drawing, Powerball players had a chance at a $700 million jackpot as the streak of no big winners continues.

While the eye-popping prize is certainly life-changing money, it still wouldn’t crack the top 10 largest Powerball wins after several billion-dollar winners hit the jackpot over the past few years.

The jackpot has now climbed to an estimated $750 million for the next drawing on Monday night.

The cash option for Saturday’s jackpot was $316 million. That’s the option most winners take, as opposed to the full value paid out as an annuity. For Monday’s drawing, that number is expected to be $338.6 million.

Players also have a chance to win $1 million, or $2 million with the Power Play option, if they match all five regular numbers but not the Powerball.

Winning Powerball Numbers for Saturday, Aug. 23

Saturday’s winning numbers were 11-14-34-47-51 with a red Powerball number 18. The Power Play multiplier was 2x.

If a winner matches all five numbers and the Powerball, they have the option to take the full jackpot paid out over 30 years, or a smaller cash payout. Winners almost always take the cash option.

Even with the smaller lump sum payout, federal taxes will eat into those winnings, and some states also tax big lottery prizes.

What are the odds of winning the Powerball?

The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are one in 292.2 million. The odds of matching all five white balls and winning the $1 million prize are 1 in 11,688,053. The overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 24.87.

The Powerball drawing takes place live at 10:59 p.m. ET every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. Tickets, which cost $2 per play, are sold in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
