Dick’s Sporting Goods looking to hire thousands of seasonal employees

Dick’s Sporting Goods, which recently completed its acquisition of Foot Locker, is ramping up its hiring for the holiday season.

WASHINGTON — Dick’s Sporting Goods announced Thursday it’s looking to hire around 14,000 seasonal workers across its multiple brands for the 2025 holiday season.

The company, which recently completed its acquisition of Foot Locker, will be hosting a “National Signing Day” on Wednesday, Oct. 22, to mark the official start of its recruiting push for seasonal spots.

Dick’s said it plans to hire more than 9,100 workers for Dick’s Sporting Goods, Dick’s House of Sport, and Public Lands locations, along with hundreds of additional teammates for Going, Going, Gone! locations nationwide.

There will be another 4,750 team members hired across Foot Locker, Kids Foot Locker, WSS and Champs store locations in North America.

Interested candidates for seasonal hiring at Dick’s can apply now by visiting dicks.com/jobs and searching for their nearest location to complete a seasonal job application, then visit their local store on Wednesday, Oct. 22, to interview. Hiring will continue beyond that date until all seasonal positions are filled, according to Thursday’s announcement.

For Foot Locker seasonal hiring, interested candidates can apply online at careers.footlocker.com.

Meanwhile, uncertainty over the economy and tariffs is forcing some retailers to pull back or delay plans to hire seasonal workers this year. While online behemoth Amazon Inc. said Monday it intends to hire the same level as a year ago, job placement firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas forecasts overall holiday hiring for the last three months of the year will likely fall under 500,000 positions. That’s fewer than last year’s 543,000 level and also marks the smallest seasonal gain in 16 years when retailers hired 495,800 temporary workers, the firm said.

Dick’s opening more House of Sport locations

The company is also planning to open several House of Sport locations. Thursday’s press release said it plans to open 13 stores before the holidays, which the company confirmed included a few that opened this fall:
