After a meticulous investigation and a trial, justice has been served in the case of the murder of 31-year-old Andrew Carter. On October 28, 2018, at approximately 9 pm, Des Moines police officers responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting at the Redondo Square parking lot, located at S. 272nd Street and Pacific Highway South.
Upon arrival, officers discovered Carter with two gunshot wounds. Despite immediate life-saving efforts by officers and South King Fire and Rescue, Carter succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Diligent work by Des Moines Police detectives, in collaboration with public assistance and video surveillance evidence, led to the identification of 22-year-old Yourhighness Jeramiah Bolar as the perpetrator behind Carter’s murder. Bolar was located and apprehended a few days after the incident.
Detectives conducted an interview with Bolar, during which ultimately confessed to the crime. He was subsequently charged with Murder in the 2nd Degree and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.
The case proceeded to a jury trial in January 2024, culminating in Bolar’s conviction. Bolar now awaits his sentencing hearing while in custody at the King County Jail.
Des Moines Police Chief Tim Gately expressed his gratitude to all involved in the investigation, arrest, and conviction of Bolar, emphasizing the dedicated efforts to uphold the department’s mission of “relentlessly fighting crime with trust and care.”
