A decline in sales of smaller agricultural tractors reduced total sales figures for May, which also showed pockets of strength, according to data from the Association of Equipment Manufacturers.
A 2.7% decline from a year earlier in the sub-40-horsepower segment led to a 0.7% reduction in total unit sales of 27,266 farm tractors.
U.S. self-propelled combine sales grew the most, up 55% to 487, while four-wheel drive tractors advanced 51% to 266, according to the trade group.
Total U.S. farm tractor sales for the year are down 12% compared with the same period in 2022, while combine sales are up 68%, the AEM said.
