The salt can be used to address icy and hazardous conditions near homes in the District.
Availability is offered in designated time windows, and advanced sign-up is recommended.

Salt Distribution Locations:

Commercial property owners are required to clear the snow and ice from their sidewalks. Residential owners who are not enrolled in the Sidewalk Shoveling Exemption Program are also required to clear snow and ice from their sidewalks after a snowstorm.
It is recommended that the salt be used to treat problematic areas that are not highly trafficked by pets.
