After clearing the first floor, they moved to the second floor where the fire began. That’s where they found a victim.
WASHINGTON — A row home in Northwest, D.C. caught fire Saturday evening.
D.C. Fire and EMS received calls of a fire in the 700 block of Rock Creek Church Road just after 9 p.m. When they arrived large flames could be seen shooting out of the window from the upper floor.
Teams say, the fire began on the second floor and extended to the third floor. Once they were able to get the flames under control, the moved inside to do a safety check.
After clearing the first floor, crews moved to the second floor where the fire began. That’s where they found a victim.
D.C. Fire has not released the condition of the victim at this time. Although visible fire has been extinguished, crews are still putting out hotspots. Seven people have since been displaced.
Photos tweeted out by D.C. Fire and EMS, shows thick black smoke coming out of the home as they worked to put the flames out.
The cause of the fire has not been released at this time. D.C. Fire and EMS are still piecing together the events that led up to the fire.
