RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) — Dangerous heat continues across central North Carolina, with a Heat Advisory in effect Saturday as feels-like temperatures climb into the triple digits.
According to the National Weather Service, heat index values could reach around 100 to 106 degrees, increasing the risk of heat-related illness
Hot Saturday, storms possible
It will be slightly less hot than Friday, but still oppressive, with feels-like temperatures topping 100 degrees across much of the Triangle and surrounding areas.
A few isolated storms are possible later today, mainly south of the Triangle.
Another advisory possible Sunday
Forecasters say another Heat Advisory is likely Sunday, with highs pushing the upper 90s and heat index values potentially climbing even higher.
Storm chances will also increase late in the day as a front approaches.
The Storm Prediction Center has placed the Triangle and areas north under a Level 2 risk for severe weather, with the main threat being damaging straight-line winds.

Cooldown arrives Tuesday
Relief is on the way briefly.
Tuesday is expected to be the coolest day of the week, with highs in the mid-80s and a chance for showers, especially south and east.
Heat returns, rain chances later this week
Temperatures will climb back into the mid to upper 90s after Tuesday.
There is also a growing chance for rain and storms by Friday, though forecasters caution that confidence in widespread rainfall remains uncertain.
What to know about the heat
The National Weather Service urges residents to:
- Drink plenty of water
- Limit time outdoors during peak heat
- Check on vulnerable neighbors
- Never leave children or pets in vehicles
Hot temperatures combined with high humidity can quickly lead to heat-related illness if precautions are not taken.
