CWT has launched a carbon footprint calculator for environmental insights on corporate meetings and events, the travel management company announced Thursday. The calculator was developed alongside partner Thrust Carbon, with whom the company signed last year.

The carbon calculator is available now “with associated fees,” a company representative told BTN by email, for CWT event planners and clients to track and measure waste and carbon emissions based on corporate hotel stays, meeting venues and food and beverage consumption. The calculator can track and report data for events of 200 to 50,000 attendees, according to CWT.

According to the company, the calculator compares emission data against individual users’ benchmarks and goals, from beginning planning stages to event completion. The calculator then highlights areas of potential improvement in event destination selection, transportation, venues, accommodations, waste management and F&B choices, the company said.

The launch follows a six-month trial run by Thrust Carbon and CWT with CWT’s own customer events, the company said. The calculator adds to CWT’s environmental tools following its launch of a more simplified carbon-emissions dashboard last year.
