Suffolk Credit Union has opened a new “micro branch” inside St. Charles Hospital in Port Jefferson.

The branch is designed to serve hospital employees as well as families, and those visiting the hospital.

“We are proud to partner with Catholic Health to provide the healthcare heroes who work at St. Charles Hospital with seamless banking services, right in the hospital,” Charles Schembri, executive vice president and chief experience officer of the credit union.

“We look forward to providing quality financial solutions and trusted financial advice to help the hardworking employees of St. Charles, as well as patrons of the hospital,” he said.

The branch is located near the hospital’s cafeteria, and includes an interactive teller machine, which combines a traditional ATM with the ability to interact with a live personal banker via video technology, and also offers extended hours. In addition, the credit union team is serving and advising its members and hospital staff.

Prior to opening the new branch at St. Charles, Suffolk Credit Union already had an existing partnership with the hospital. The credit union supports a broad range of nonprofits, offers financial seminars at the workplace, and has a partnership with Suffolk County Community College.

“We consider it both a duty and a privilege to serve our neighbors throughout Suffolk and Nassau County,” Schembri said. “People helping people is at the core of our mission.”
