Crash closes I-76 westbound through South Philly

Commuters headed westbound on I-76 through South Philly should be prepared for delays as a crash on the roadway has led to lane closures on Monday morning.

Officials said that, as of about 6:45 a.m. on Monday, westbound lanes along I-76, between Vare Ave./Mifflin Street and Exit 346B were closed due to a crash.

Drivers through that area were being told to find alternative routes and expect to require more travel time in their morning commutes on Monday morning.

As of about 7 a.m., officials have not said what led to the crash, how many vehicles were involved or if there were any injuries, but vehicles could be seen delayed all along the throughfare on the morning commute.

An investigation into this crash is ongoing, officials said.
