It’s been one year since the country music star Toby Keith made the devastating announcement to the world that he had been diagnosed with stomach cancer. Now, the 61 year-old singer is giving fans an update on how his cancer battle is going.

Keith’s Cancer Battle Update

Representatives for Keith told Fox News that he is “feeling good” as his cancer battle continues, adding that they “are anticipating Toby will be on the road again soon” after he was forced to take over a year off due to his health.

“All of this is good news,” they continued.

Keith himself said earlier this month that he is staying upbeat because “basically, everything is in a real positive trend.”

“You never know with cancer, so you have to prepare,” he explained, according to People Magazine.

Keith went on to express confidence that he’ll be able to perform again soon.

“I’ve got more wind,” he stated. “And I’m thinking about bringing the band in and setting up, playing two or three days somewhere just to see if I can get through two hours.”

Should his health continue to improve, Keith believes that he’ll be “out on the road this fall.”

“All I gotta do is see if I can get through two or three nights of work and get a little break in this chemo, and we’ll go back to work,” he said. “I’m ready. That’s living.”

Keith also revealed that though he’s still undergoing chemotherapy treatments, his tumor has shrunk by one third, and his blood tests are improving.

“I’m about another eight weeks from my last scan,” the “Red Solo Cup” singer said. “So I expect next time I look for that tumor to be even less — and I’ve only got one that’s shown up.”

Backstory: Country Music Star Toby Keith Reveals Devastating Cancer Diagnosis

Keith’s Cancer Announcement

Keith revealed his cancer diagnosis to the world in June of last year.

“I’ve spent the last six months receiving chemo, radiation and surgery,” he wrote in an Instagram post. “So far, so good. I need time to breathe, recover and relax. I am looking forward to spending this time with my family. But I will see the fans sooner than later. I can’t wait. -T.”

Back in November, Keith opened up about how eager he is to get back on the road.

“I need a little bit of time to just rest up and heal up,” he said at the time. “It’s pretty debilitating to have to go through all that, but as long as everything stays hunky-dory, then we’ll look at something good in the future.”

Keith Performs At Trump Inauguration

Though he is a registered Independent, Keith had the guts to perform at the inauguration of Donald Trump back in 2017. Despite receiving backlash for this from the left, Keith refused to apologize for his performance.

“I don’t apologize for performing for our country or military,” Keith said in a statement to Entertainment Weekly at the time. “I performed at events for previous presidents [George W.] Bush and [Barack] Obama and over 200 shows in Iraq and Afghanistan for the USO.”

Unlike many other musicians, Keith is clearly a true American patriot who is not afraid to think for himself. Please join us in saying a prayer for him as his cancer battle continues!
