Cool temps, possible rain slated for Portland area

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Thursday’s forecast calls for continued clouds in the valley with cool afternoon temperatures in the low-to-mid 60s.

There is a risk of a late afternoon and evening shower. Showers will increase early on Friday as an area of low pressure continues to spin off the coast and begins to make a move towards the valley this weekend, with cold showers increasing once again.

Models also continue to struggle a bit with the exact timing and amounts of rainfall over the next few days.

Another deeper and colder trough of low pressure will arrive on Sunday, bringing with it more cold showers for the valley and mountain snow for the Cascades.

Some models are hinting at as much as 12″ of snow may fall above 5,000 feet by early Monday morning. That would be significant for this early in the fall season. Typically, the first rounds of heavy snow for the Cascades arrives in late-October to early-November.

Expect temperatures in the mid-50s in Portland this weekend with rainy moments.
