The CHP Santa Cruz area office said in an updated social media post at 6:54 p.m. that one lane is open in both the southbound and northbound lanes of Highway 17 at Summit Road as a result.

“Traffic is moving slowly in both directions, so expect delays,” added CHP Santa Cruz.

CHP said the officer sustained minor injuries in the incident.

It is not clear what led to the crash and how many vehicles were involved.

There is no estimated timeframe for when Highway 17 will fully reopen.

Commuters are advised to avoid the area.
