CHIREDZI Town and Rural District Councils have engaged in a partnership that will see the development of Buffalo Range suburb with a total of 6 261 stands, Acting Chiredzi Town Secretary Engineer Wesley Kauma has said.

Eng Kauma said this during his presentation last Wednesday  at the two-day Masvingo Province all stakeholders workshop programme at Great Zimbabwe Law School. The programme was expected to outline major projects for the province in 2023 and discuss challenges affecting different sectors.

“The new suburb will also have eleven primary schools, five secondary schools, 103 industrial stands, 133 commercial stands, 41 flats, a hospital, a college, a resort centre and five fuel stations,” he said.

The servicing and development of the suburb is being done by Full Life Open Arms Africa Housing Trust through funding from CBZ, NMB and ZB banks. The workshop was chaired by Masvingo Minister of State and Devolution Mr Ezra Chadzamira.

Deputy Minister of National Housing and Social Amenities Yeukai Simbanegavi, members of the Joint Operations Command (JOC), Rural District Councils (RDCs) Chief Executive Officer (CEOs), Government department heads, business community members and other stakeholders attended the meeting.

Eng Kauma said Chiredzi Town Council also plans to draw water from Tugwi-Mukosi Dam. The town has been getting its water from Mutirikwi River.
