WILL COUNTY, Ill. (WGN) — A 10-year-old boy is recovering after a train collided with his bicycle near the New Lenox Metra station Monday evening, officials said.
The incident happened around 5:30 p.m. at Cedar Road as a Chicago-bound Rock Island Line train approached the station.
While the train struck the child’s bike, officials said the boy himself was not hit. He was taken to Silver Cross Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Train service was halted in both directions for about 90 minutes while authorities investigated, before resuming later that evening.
