What makes this bonus even better is the fast than you can use this cash-back as Ultimate Rewards points if you have a card that earns Ultimate Rewards points. Some popular options are Ink Business Preferred, Chase Sapphire Reserve or Chase Sapphire Preferred. That makes the bonus much more valuable since you can transfer points to travel partners. 1 cent transfers to 1 Ultimate Rewards point.

Earning Rewards

The Chase Ink Business Unlimited credit card earns 1.5% cash back on all your purchases with no annual limits. While it is a business credit card, it will also earn rewards on non-business purchases.

Depending on your valuation of Ultimate Rewards, this card can be superior to 2% cashback cards. While it is a great rate for everyday purchases, you can still do better on select categories. If you find yourself purchasing office supplies for example, you should check out the Ink Business Cash Card.

Using Rewards

The Chase Ink Business Unlimited is advertised as a cash-back card. You can redeem the cash-back for gift cards, travel or just cash in the form of statement credit or deposit into an eligible U.S. checking or savings account. You also have other options such as Amazon Shop with Points, but that’s normally not a good redemption value outside of the frequent promotions.

If you want to maximize the value of the rewards, then your best bet is to pair it with a Ultimate Rewards earning card such as Chase Ink Business Preferred, Chase Sapphire Reserve or Chase Sapphire Preferred. You can then convert the cash-back rewards on your Ink Business Unlimited Card to Chase Ultimate Rewards points. To do this, the two cards must be in the same name, or a member of your household.

Having these rewards in the form of Ultimate Rewards points, means that you can now redeem in the Chase Travel portal (1.5 cents per point with Sapphire Reserve; or 1.25cpp with Sapphire Preferred or Ink Business Preferred). Or even better, you can transfer to hotel and airline partners. This is why Ultimate Rewards are one other most valuable currencies in the credit card world. Here are all the eligible partners and the transfer ratios:

Partner Ratio
Aer Lingus 1:1
Air Canada Aeroplan 1:1
British Airways Executive Club 1:1
Emirates 1:1
Flying Blue (Air France / KLM) 1:1
JetBlue 1:1
Iberia Plus 1:1
IHG Rewards Club 1:1
Marriott Bonvoy 1:1
Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer 1:1
Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards 1:1
United Airlines MileagePlus 1:1
Virgin Atlantic Flying Club 1:1
World of Hyatt 1:1

You can easily transfer points online and most transfers are instant. Just keep in mind that once you transfer point to a travel partner, it can not be reversed.

Other Benefits

The Chase Ink Business Unlimited is a no-annual-fee card with a simple earning structure and modest perks.

One good thing is that small-business owners can add employee cards at no additional cost. You earn the same rewards through employee cards as you do with the primary card. Plus you can set spending limits and categorize purchases by card.

The Ink Business Cash Card offers purchase protection and extended warranty protection. Purchase protection covers new purchases for 120 days against damage or theft at up to $10,000 per claim and $50,000 per account. Extended warranty protection extends the period of a U.S. manufacturer’s warranty by an additional year on eligible warranties of three years or less.

You also get auto rental collision damage waiver when you decline the rental company’s collision insurance and charge the entire rental cost to your card. Coverage is primary when renting for business purposes. It covers up to the actual cash value of the vehicle for theft and collision damage for most rentals in the U.S. and abroad. However this card is not ideal for international travel as you will be charged a 3% foreign transaction fee.

Chase Ink Business Unlimited Review: Guru’s Wrap-up

When it comes to no-annual-fee credit cards, the Chase Ink Business Unlimited is a simple option that will reward you for every purchase. The card is especially enticing now thanks to its best ever offer. You can a bonus of $900 which can also be used as 90,000 Ultimate Rewards points. That increases the value substantially, possibly as high as $1,500. It can get even better if you have someone who can refer you.

The welcome offer also gives you 12 months of 0% APR which is a small bonus on its own considering current interest rates.

While the welcome offer makes this card worth applying, the simple rewards structure could make it a keeper long term for your non-bonused spending.
