The new Cascadia Fresh Market at 5444 Delridge Way SW will hold its launch event on Monday May 13, at 6:30pm. The market will offer a rotating selection of fresh produce at below retail prices. They plan to partner with local elementary school PTAs for collaborative marketing, with the market sharing 20% of daily profits back to participating schools every day of the week.

Fresh food that can’t sell at the market will be donated to a free refrigerator on-site, sponsored by the West Seattle Food Bank. Neighbors in need will be able to access fresh food at the Fresh Market and through this and other measures, the intent of the market is to be zero waste.

Cascadia hopes to demonstrate the Fresh Market concept and share the model with entrepreneurs and non-profit collaborators, partnering to bring fresh produce and low-overhead commerce to food deserts all over and found in other parts of D1 such as in South Park.
