Car flips, crashes next to train tracks in Cary

A car flipped and crashed next to train tracks in Cary early Tuesday morning. 

According to Cary police, the driver ran off the roadway and lost control of the car. The driver was not injured.

The roof of the BMW was inches away from the train tracks between Trinity Road and East Chatham Street. The windshield was shattered, and airbags were deployed.

The WRAL Breaking News Tracker got to the scene around 2 a.m. Officers were blocking Trinity Road and inspecting the car and train tracks. An ambulance was there. It left the scene without lights or sirens on. 

The scene cleared around 2:15 a.m. 

Police do not believe speed or alcohol to be factors in the crash.
