Capital One Adds 48-Month Rule for Venture Card Family

Capital One has added new language to the welcome bonus terms on three Venture credit cards. This is similar to the card family restrictions on American Express credit cards. 

Here’s the new language on each card:

• Venture X: You are not eligible for this product if you have received a new cardmember bonus for the Capital One Venture card or the Capital One Venture X card in the past 48 months. 
• Venture: You are not eligible for this product if you have received a new cardmember bonus for the Capital One Venture card or the Capital One Venture X card in the past 48 months.
• VentureOne: You are not eligible for this product if you have received a new cardmember bonus for the Capital One VentureOne card, the Capital One Venture card, or the Capital One Venture X card in the past 48 months. 

As you can see, you can no longer receive a bonus on the Venture X card if you have received one for the Venture card in the last 48 months, and vice-versa. You will not be eligible for a bonus on  the VentureOne card if you have received a bonus in the last 48 months for either Capital One Venture or Capital One Venture X cards.

The new language was probably introduced in recent days, so it’s not clear if it’s being enforced yet. It also has not been updated everywhere, as some pages still show the old terms.
