A teen girl who went missing for weeks in California died in an accident, authorities said Thursday.

An autopsy of 16-year-old Kiely Rodni determined that she died by drowning, the Sacramento Bee reported. Investigators found no evidence of foul play.

Rodni was found dead in her car at the bottom of a lake about 20 miles west of Reno, Nev., on Aug. 21. She had last been seen alive at a party 15 days earlier.

Her disappearance led to a massive search across the Reno-Lake Tahoe area. Rodni was a resident of Truckee, a small town just 10 miles north of the lake. She was found dead in Prosser Creek Reservoir, a short drive from Prosser Family Campground, which was hosting hundreds of teenagers for a party.

After law enforcement led a fruitless search, independent searchers at Adventures With Purpose located Kiely and her vehicle, a 2013 Honda CR-V, and alerted authorities.
