SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Severe weather, including valley rain and Sierra snow, will continue amid the holidays and is expected to impact travel.

Christmas Day will have weather hazards along with it for travelers. A strong atmospheric river is passing through Northern California for the holiday bringing a multitude of weather issues.

Scattered thunderstorm chances remain all day Thursday.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning:

Severe Thunderstorm Warning continues for Granite Bay CA, Loomis CA and  Newcastle CA until 3 p.m.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning:

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued until Dec 25 3:00PM for parts of Northern California. The storm is capable of producing dangerous lightning, gusty winds, heavy downpours and hail.

Before 8:30 p.m., Eastbound I-80 traffic was released over Donner Summit, CHP said. CHP was escorting vehicles down the summit.
