12 Holiday Accessories To Wear
One of the easiest ways to add some sparkle and excitement to your holiday outfits is to add chic accessories! You can be wearing jeans and a sweater and with a pair of fun pumps or some sparkly earrings, you’re ready for your next holiday party in seconds. Below, I’m sharing a roundup of my favorite holiday accessories that will instantly take your outfit from fine to festive…all the way through the holiday season!
Statement Earrings
The simplest way to accessorize your outfit is with a pair of statement earrings! I recently featured these gorgeous Open Edit earrings in this post where I shared 6 holiday tops and sweaters. I love the look of pearls, so these imitation-pearl chandelier earrings feel classic, sophisticated, and chic. They keep going in and out of stock so if you see them available, grab them! Feathered Pieces
How fun are these feathery Sam Edelman mules?! Every detail on these shoes is perfect…the dramatic feathers, flattering pointed toe, and fun flared heel…perfection! Wear these with all of your holiday outfits this year for some extra oomph. I’d wear these with jeans and a blouse, a chic little black dress, or a fun pleated skirt and sweater. They’re more versatile than you think! And they are easy to get on and off…Yay! If feathers aren’t your style, don’t worry…there are plenty of other options on this list!
Metallic Pieces
A more subtle way to add some excitement to your holiday outfit is with metallic pieces. I’m wearing a pair of Franco Sarto gold slingback pumps. These pumps are super comfortable (for heels) and I love the gold color for the holidays. Metallics are very “in” right now and they’re pretty neutral so they’ll be easy to transition into your winter wardrobe as well. You could also try a metallic clutch or bag too!
Beaded Bags
Another accessory for the holidays that you really can’t go wrong with…a chic statement bag! Cult Gaia makes some really special accessories and when I saw this clutch, I knew it would be perfect for the holidays! I love the look of the pearls…they’re so elegant, sophisticated, and chic. You can style this clutch with jeans and a blouse like I did, or with your favorite holiday dress, skirt, or pants. I love the white but it also comes in black. Statement Necklace
Chunky necklaces and gold chain pieces are one of the biggest accessory trends right now. But any statement necklace will take your holiday outfit up a notch! It’s also a great way to draw attention upward and to your face. I love this Paco Rabanne gold necklace and have a few pieces by the brand. The jewelry is super high quality and really packs a punch. Diamonds
Diamonds and hoop earrings…two things that are classic! This pair of Monica Vinader earrings combines those two classics for the perfect pair of diamond hoop earrings. I love all of Monica Vinader’s pieces, but these earrings are easily my most worn. If diamonds are out of the budget, there are plenty of faux options that are just as beautiful. Brightly Colored Jewelry
Adding a pop of color is always a good idea…and super simple. Carry a red bag with your all-black outfit, a pair of emerald green pumps with your jeans and sweater, or… try a bright and bold piece of jewelry! The last piece, or pieces, of jewelry you can add to up your holiday style game is statement bracelets! I love a gorgeous cuff like the two Julie Vos bracelets I’m wearing. But you can go for a chain bracelet, pearl bracelet, stacked bracelets, charm bracelets, bangles…the possibilities are endless. Just make sure that whatever you choose stands out without overpowering the outfit!
Statement Booties
Nothing like a pair of killer statement boots to really turn heads, right?! You can make a statement with any kind of shoes or boots but I love the silver details on these Isabel Marant western-inspired boots! You could also go with metallic boots, studded boots, combat boots, printed boots, architecturally shaped boots, embellished boots, etc. Choose a pair that feels like YOU and goes with your personal style.
Embellished Belt
Last but certainly not least on this list of holiday accessories…is a fun, embellished statement belt! There are tons of options out there too. I love that you can add a cool belt to jeans and a sweater to take the look to the next level. I’m sharing a few of my current favorites below…
How To Accessorize Your Holiday Outfits
Know Your Personal Style
Knowing your personal style is key when trying to determine how to accessorize. Not just your holiday outfits, but even your everyday outfits! For example, if you have feminine style, you’ll probably gravitate toward lighter colors, pearls, feathers, and delicate pieces. If your style is edgy, accessories with more geometric shapes, chunky chains, or studs might be more your thing. It’s easy to see the exciting piece and want to wear it…but think about if it’s really your style and how you’ll style it before purchasing.
Consider Your Plans
What are you doing that day? If you’re running errands all day and have to go straight to the holiday party…you might want to skip the heels. Instead, add fun accessories like jewelry or a handbag. If you’re going from the office to the holiday party, consider packing a chic beaded clutch in your work tote to swap out over the essentials.
Consider the Dress Code
Does the invite have a dress code? If it’s a casual holiday party, don’t opt for heels…go for a statement necklace. I always prefer to be overdressed than underdressed. But it’s still important to consider the dress code.
Create Balance
Just because you have five accessories you want to wear, doesn’t mean you should wear them all at once. I suggest choosing 1-2 accessories that complement the rest of your outfit without overpowering the look. If you’re going with a bold outfit, go with more muted accessories and vice versa.
Choose a Statement Accessory
When in doubt, choose one bold accessory like a bag or shoes. And then keep the rest of your jewelry more toned down (but still impactful enough that it’s visible).
