Black Oak Casino Resort says it’s offering free rooms to evacuees in affected communities.
TUOLUMNE, Calif. — A casino in Tuolumne County is offering shelter to residents ordered to evacuate because of the 6-5 Fire in Chinese Camp.
Black Oak Casino Resort in the community of Tuolumne announced on Tuesday evening that it is offering free hotel rooms to anyone under a mandatory fire evacuation.
“Simply show your valid California ID from an affected evacuation zone, and our team will assist you right away,” the casino said. “We also want to take a moment to thank the hardworking firefighters and first responders who are putting their lives on the line to keep our community safe.
Those in need of a room are asked to call 877-747-8777 to book.
The casino is also offering a safe place for RVs on the Westside Pavilion on Tuolumne Road, south of the resort.
The 6-5 Fire sparked at 10:34 a.m. and grew to 4,000 acres, according to Cal Fire. The fire burned into areas that have structures and destroyed multiple homes.
The blaze is part of the larger TCU September Lightning Complex Fire, a group of nine fires that have burned more than 9,368 acres across parts of Stanislaus, Tuolumne, and Calaveras counties.
