Wednesday night at the Hollywood Bowl in LA, Fear of God designer Jerry Lorenzo staged the brand’s first-ever fashion show. Complete with merch tables, countless celebrities, a roster of top models, a Sampha and a Pusha T performance, a highly anticipated Adidas collab, a ton of epic coats, and a July 4-worthy fireworks display, it was one of the more epic shows of the year, closer in scale to Coachella than to a runway presentation. You can read about how it all went down here.

But as the fastidious Lorenzo knows very well, you can’t pull off a spectacle without dialing in every last detail. He spent two and a half years perfecting this tailoring-heavy collection, along with the debut of Fear of God Athletics, his long-awaited Adidas collaboration that was announced in 2020. In these exclusive images, taken backstage in the moments before the show, the care that Lorenzo puts into each piece is evident. After taking his bow, Lorenzo explained that his craft had finally caught up to his storytelling ability. And he hinted that he’s not done improving yet: “As my craft gets better,” he said, “and as I get better at what I’m doing…my communication becomes more clear.” On Wednesday, at least, his message could not have been clearer.
