Austria’s JJ Delivers Post-Eurovision Single, the Compelling ‘Back to Forgetting’ – Culture Fix

Austria’s reigning Eurovision champ JJ returns with his first post-Eurovision single, and surprisingly only the second of his career. The new number is Back to Forgetting – a song was composed by JJ himself, along with Jude York and Kristofer Strandberg, with Strandberg also producing it.

JJ shares: “This song is about something I had to go through myself. A lot of people know that feeling… You’re finally moving on, starting to forget someone, and suddenly their message pops up again. You think, ‘Oh no, not again! Not you. I was just getting back to forgetting you’. That’s what the song is about: finding your way back into the process of letting go.”

The number stays true to the sound of JJ’s Eurovision winner Wasted Love, continuing to blend operatic flavours with electronic pop, whilst the production impresses, the true star is JJ’s impressive vocal skills – honed by a career in the Viennese opera.

JJ will be taking to the stage in Vienna in May 2026 when the Austrian capital hosts the seventieth edition of the Eurovision Song Contest.
